FromSoftware's rough week: The Duskbloods slips to 2027

Happy Friday, Bros. Two bits of FromSoftware news landed back to back. First, The Duskbloods, its Switch 2-only online action game for up to 8 players, is no longer coming this year. It's now due in 2027. The studio says August's network test showed it needs more time to tune the rules and balance before launch.
Then Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III went offline on every platform. Solo play still works, but co-op, invasions, summon signs and those famous floor messages are all down. FromSoftware hasn't said why, or when they'll be back, so take any guesses you see online with a big grain of salt.
Why it matters: online games live and die by their servers and their balance, and even the big studios hit pause to get them right. Patience is a power-up.
Heads-up for older players: Dark Souls II and III are rated M (17+). The Duskbloods doesn't have a rating yet.
Monster Hunter goes pocket-sized:Monster Hunter Outlanders is out now on iOS and Android, free to download. TiMi Studio Group made it under license from Capcom. You get squads of up to 4 hunters, controller support, and an Elder Dragon called Ruger Aidal to chase. It needs a newer phone (iPhone 13 Pro / iOS 17 or a recent high-end Android, per Garena), and accounts stay locked to your starting region. Free footy, this week only: the Football Manager 27 early version is free on PC and Mac until Tue, Nov 3 at 8 AM HST on Steam, Epic and the Microsoft Store (Game Pass members can play too). Your save carries over if you buy the full game, which launches Nov 10. Football Manager

It's a cozy, non-violent game where you lure glowing ghost orbs over to grow prize pumpkins in a graveyard, and steer the grumpy spirits away. Fly the Pacific as an albatross:Toroa: Skycall, from Atawhai Interactive in Ōtepoti (Dunedin), Aotearoa, is a chill flight adventure grounded in te ao Māori. For older players: Ngāi Te Rangi developer Naphtali Faulkner (Origame Digital, maker of Umurangi Generation) talked to RNZ about Penguin Colony, coming to PC and Switch 2. You play as penguins in 1939 Antarctica while a Lovecraft-style horror story about colonial myth-making plays out around them.
